Hello Beautiful Souls,

I feel like we are in a world where we rush into buying generic gifts & holiday cards, and in the process, the true art of giving gifts is lost. A truly meaningful gift is not an exchange but a gesture. It is a subtle message that says, "I see you , I know you , and I appreciate you " .

There’s a moment just before a gift is opened - a quiet, excited pause where the receiver takes the package in their hands. They feel the weight of it, the textures, the interesting folds & the elegant ribbons. In that moment, the gift-giving has already begun.

This holiday season, let us try to bring back The Art of Gifting  - an art that extends far beyond what’s inside the box. It lives in the choice of paper, the texture of a ribbon, the thoughtful note and design on a tag. It’s the beautiful, tangible expression of “I took this time for you ”. Let us not think of it as responsibility but intentional . A well-chosen gift shows that it isn't vague, mediocre, or thoughtless, but deeply meaningful.

Why the Wrap Matters

In our world of fast shipping and gift bags, the ritual of wrapping can feel like a lost language. But to wrap a gift by hand is to whisper a secret: You are worth the time. You are worth the beauty . The extra minutes spent measuring, folding, and tying transform a simple object into an experience - a curated moment of anticipation and delight.

Finding Your Wrapping Inspiration

Every year, I love to take inspiration from the aesthetics that I feel for the most. For a long time, that was the timeless, classic Christmas, elegant - all rich plaids, velvet ribbons, and heritage charm. It’s a classic look for a reason, and if you’re drawn to it, it’s a wonderful theme to build upon.

But inspiration can come from anywhere! Maybe this year, you’re feeling a different trend - the clean minimalism of Japanese furoshiki, the bold retro patterns of the 70s, or the natural, foraged look with dried oranges and twine.

The key is not to follow a trend blindly, but to let it start and inspire your own creativity. Choose a palette, a texture, or a mood that speaks to you, and build your wrapping story around it. Once you’ve found your inspiration, it’s time to create. The magic is in mixing textures and details that feel intentional and luxurious.

This Year's Inspiration: The Ralph Lauren Theme

This year, I’m sticking to a timeless, cozy, and rich aesthetic - think a Ralph Lauren holiday ad. Imagine deep, heritage shades of colour: burgundy, forest green, navy, and cream. The magic is in mixing textures and patterns that feel both luxurious and nostalgic.

  • The Wrap: I went on Amazon to look for the classic heavyweight wraps in plaids, subtle stripes, or classic solids. I also added some Gold and White Wraps (one side was shiny and the other side matte). Don’t be afraid to mix patterns - a bold plaid on one box paired with a deep solid on another creates a sophisticated, collected look under the tree.

  • The Ribbon: This is where texture truly sings. Change your shiny polyester for velvet ribbons in matching colour shades. Their soft, richness is incomparable. Use wide velvet for a dramatic-like bow, or thin strands for delicate ties. Add a second layer with natural twine or a strand of silk cord for depth.

  • The Finishing Touches: This is the signature. Attach a sprig of dried cedar or eucalyptus, a vintage-inspired ornament, or a wax seal with your ribbon. Choose elegant name tags - maybe in a creamy parchment or craft paper. Write “Merry Christmas & Happy New Year” and the receiver's name in your elegant font type, using a metallic pen or a simple black marker. This tag isn’t just a label; it’s the first part of your handwritten note. You can also print them, with beautiful holiday designs and using different and elegant font types. I used Canva to print the design and wording this year.

The Gift of Your Intention

When you give a gift wrapped with such care, you’re giving two presents: the one inside, and the deep feeling of being cherished that the wrapping bears. The receiver will feel it. They’ll run their fingers over the velvet ribbon, admire the tag, and most of the time, they’ll even save the wrap.

This Christmas, let’s bring back the ceremony. Let’s create presents that are a feast for the eyes and warms your heart. Find what inspires you - whether it’s a timeless classic or this year’s trend - and make it your own. Because the truest art of the gift is love, made seen.

Wishing you a season filled with beautiful memories, intentional giving, and the joy of creating it. Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!
